Personalities
Desire to Please "For True
Companionship"
We have been accused numerous times that
we have already house trained our puppies before we send them
out to their new owners. It is hard for us to explain this or
maybe it would sound too much like a sales pitch for us to explain.
Our dogs respond to humans, if you socialize them properly and
don't use a heavy hand, you will find out that our line of German
Shorthairs just want to please. We explain to people that our
dogs have personalities not an attitude. One thing is for sure;
"we are not kennel-blind". If a dog doesn't develop
into the type that our customers would love and be proud to own,
they will be discarded for future use.
We don't believe in breeding extremes to
weakness, or try shortcuts to get to where we want to go. If a
purchased line (outcross) or stud dog prospect does not demonstrate
a great personality and willingness to please, along with our
other important traits we will not consider them. About 95% of
our dogs live in the homes with their new owners; many ask me
if this will ruin them? We can tell when training a customer's
dog that lives with them have better manners and a stronger desire
to please, they also head for the house at the end of the day
instead of the kennel.
It is important with our customer base that
we produce calm, easy natured animal that are good, clean caretakers
of their kennel or couches that they call home. We feel the only
disadvantage of having your hunting partner living indoors is
that they might not develop the winter hair coat needed to protect
them during late season duck and pheasant hunting. We are not
going to be the one that weighs out the differences; it's entirely
up to new owner.
