We would like to recognize the efforts
of our customers that have achieved goals and/or titles on
their Top Gun Kennel offspring during the 2008 year.
Congratulations to
all these dogs and their owners.
Top Gun Ace II MH

Pedigree
Ace completed his AKC MH title this fall going 5 for 5 on
his MH test. This is after completing his SH title this past
spring. Ace is big, solid muscle and the epitome of style
out in the field. From the way he carries himself in the field,
to the way his honors and especially the way he points birds
in the field it is all about "Ace Style."

Top Gun Ally

Pedigree
Last year I came to Top Gun Kennels looking for a hunting
dog that would also be the family pet. I wanted a dog that
could hunt birds with the best and have hang out at the
foot of my bed in the evening. I ended up getting so much
more. Steve and Jodi Ries have far exceeded my expectations.
They really took the time to find the right dog for me.
I ended up buying Top Gun Ally. Over the next year, they
have trained Ally to a Master Hunter title. She is an amazing
dog. When we hit the field, I know Ally will make my hunt
a great one! There is nothing better than hunting with a
dog that can stick a bird and bring it back like fine tuned
machine, then jump in the truck and be a great companion
too. Steve and Jodi took time to teach me about how train
with Ally, techniques for proper nutrition and care, and
many other tips that have helped me to become a more educated
owner. I have learned so much and more importantly have
met two people that I am very proud to call my friends.
This is a kennel that truly cares about their customer’s
wants and needs. Top Gun Kennels are a first class operation
that has won me as a very loyal patron. There is no doubt
were I will go for my future hunting companions. Thanks
Steve and Jodi!! I look forward to see what the future brings
for Top Gun Kennels.

Top Gun Belle

Pedigree
Thought that I would send you a picture of Belle, and the
result of her first real hunt. We shot 5 of the seven birds
she put up, and by the end of the day she was really getting
the idea. I believe that breeding matters.
Thanks for what looks to be a great dog.

ll natural ability this summer at our St Croix NAVHDA

Top Gun Charlie

Born 7/16/08
Pedigree
Just thought I'd share this with you. We went out thanksgiving
weekend to see if we could scare up a wild bird with Charlie.
He worked around a pile of bush and pointed his first
wild bird. The picture attached is my brother with Charlie
and his first pheasant. My whole family is more than impressed
with this pup. (@ 4.5 months of age)
If you ever find yourself near us give us a call and
we'd be glad to have you out for a wild bird hunt. We've
got about 100 acres of CRP and cornfields we can hunt
for wild birds.

Top Gun Diamond Lilly

Pedigree
I am the proud owner of Top Gun Diamond Lilly. Lilly
is a AKC Master Hunter and NAVDH UT Prize 1. She was
also entered in two Field Trails. First place "2006"
Amateur Walking Shooting Dog. Second place "2005"
Amateur Walking Shooting Dog. Ries family, thanks for
breeding a beautiful dog. She really SHINES.
John DeStefano - NY
Top Gun Dixie

Pedigree
Dixie has four legs towards her AKC Senior Hunt test
title. Dixie has an excellent nose and is a good bird
finder, and has been used a lot on wild birds and
is a dream guide dog.
Don Cross
Top Gun Echo

Echo received her MH at 15 months passing 6 out
of 9 braces. She also received NAVDA prize 1 NA.
She has been very natural towards training and
a natural retreiver. She loves to hunt upland or
waterfowl both and a great hunting Family companion.
Don Cross
Top Gun Griffey MH

Pedigree
We purchased Griffey from Top Gun Kennel in Jan. 2006.
He was 4 months old. Top Gun Team Sport Trainers got a
Junior hunt title on him in April 2007. Soon after, they
started him on his Master hunt title. A few months into
training, Griffey had an accident with a cow. He was in
a cast for about 1 month. After a few visits to the doctor,
he told us to wait about a year before we did more training.
So, in May 2008, he earned his Master hunt title. A special
"Thank You" to Team Sport trainers Matt Betterton,
he did a fine job with Griffey. Matt also had some help
from Chuck Woods running him in the events. I have hunted
with Griffey for 2 seasons now and shot over 100 birds
over him. Everybody that I hunt with really likes how
he works and handles. He really retrieves well to the
hand. He has been a lot of fun to hunt with. He is a joy
to have in our family. He is really good around our 4
grandchildren. They love to give him doggy treats. He
came from a good family in the Steve Ries family. There
is very good breeding behind him.

Top Gun Thata Hemi MH

Pedigree
Hemi is that perfect split between desire to please/trainability
and drive/desire to hunt. At home she is great family companion,
calm, good natured and well mannered. Out in the field she
is a bird finding machine that will not quit. She has a great
nose and bird finding instincts and most of the time she is
first dog to find the bird. When the hunt is over and your
standing near the truck getting ready to load up, Hemi will
be the one that you can't find. She will be hunting the ditch
looking for that last bird of the day. Hemi completed her
Master title this fall, going 6 for 6 on her hunt tests.

Top Gun Indy

Pedigree
We recently took Indy on a reserve hunt in East Central
, IA. We were with a group of hunters I work with that came
in from California, Arizona, Kentucky, West Virginia and
Kansas. On our second day, we separated into two group.
One group had five hunters with a guide and 4 dogs. Our
group had 5 hunters with Indy and a French Brittany.
The group with the guide and his 4 dogs yielded 23 birds
and my group yielded 17 birds. I know they beat us, but
Indy just turned 6 months old and the Brittany is just shy
of 8 years. The other groups birds were a bit torn up since
there dogs wanted to play tug of war. Now, I do not want
to brag.......ok, I do. Indy took to the field and was at
a slow steady pace and even honored the Brittany when she
was on point, fetching or even to pee! The Brittany we hunted
with is also a machine and did take more birds than Indy,
but his true natural ability shined and Jenn and I were
complimented on his demeanor and close ranging. They also
commented on his appearance to which I proudly tell them
he is from Top Gun Kennels.
Thank you for your support you have given us with Indy.
We are off to a great start on the season and hopefully,
we look forward to many more years of bragging rights!
Best regards,
Cliff and Jenn Anderson
Alexis, IL.
Top Gun Jazz

Pedigree
What a magnificent day we had!!!!!!!! Jazz was wonderful
in the field!!!!!!!!!!!!! He did an outstanding job!!!!!!!!!!
Jazz and I were the last team to show for every event.
The first event was hunting, he pointed four birds and
caught two and brought them to me. The first bird Jazz
was on a point for a long time because the Senior Judge
Bob wanted to take a picture. When he broke the bird flew
and he caught it in mid-air then brought it to me. Then
one bird Jazz went by and did not know the bird was there.
This bird was not a planted-bird it was from test before
us so it did not count. The bird took off and Jazz chased
after it and he was gone for about 3 min. I tried to follow
him to get him but I could not keep up. Then I went around
a big bush and here he comes with the bird in his mouth.
He dropped it at my feet as well!!!!! That was neat!!!!
One of the Judges said, "that Jazz is the most built
dog he has ever seen!" I use a mechanical whistle
to call him and direct him and he did what I commanded
him to do each time.
Then we had the pheasant track and the first 6 dogs failed
and hunted instead. Then I was very worried, but once
I got him out there he found an old scent and I directed
him to the scent he needed to follow. Then he found the
pheasant about a 100 yards away.( 2 minute) My mom and
Vince were so far away that they could barely see me and
they thought I just let Jazz go and not show him the feather
and lead him on but I did. It was funny because my mom
was video taping and I hear them taking about it and they
were so disappointed. But Jazz tracked and retrieved the
Pheasant.
Then the swim test, that was a piece of cake for him
he did so well. After he swam the judges looked at his
coat, eyes ect... and the senior judges said he had a
very thick coat on his belly and he also said that Jazz
has teeth like a bears teeth.
We were so proud of him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I
also have another surprise that I did not tell you on
the phone. We did not train Jazz on our own. We had help
from a special someone. Can you Guess? It is Tom and Julie
Sweenzy. Jazz has been up at his kennel for a month now
and that is why I have been not emailing you lately because
I wanted to keep all of this a surprise for you. And I
bet you were very surprise went I called and told you
about Jazz Saturday. All of our family would like to thank-you
so much because without you none of this would have happened!!!!!!
I pray that we will do well in the future and have a wonderful
future with Jazz.
Thanks again Steve and Jodie
God Bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Christ,
Kyle Scott
Top Gun Josie and Top Gun
Little Lou

Pedigree
As a lifelong Quail hunter I've been blessed with many
good hunting dogs. In 2002, I met Steve Ries and Family
and purchased my first great hunting dog and daily companion.
Since that time, I've added one more Top Gun Dog to my kennel
and I can honestly say...... I will never own another German
Shorthair Pointer unless it comes from Top Gun Kennels.
Your dogs defiantly raise the bar on style, desire to please
and the natural instincts to honor and hold points endlessly!
Thanks Steve for the friendship and the great hunting companions
- Top Gun Josie and Top Gun Little Lou!

Top Gun Max

Pedigree
Just a quick note to tell you about Top Gun Max (Gunner),
The dog I bought from you about 5 years ago. All I was looking
for was a hunting buddy. Early on we discovered we had more
dog than that. He now has Master Hunter and Utility Prize1
behind his name. I would like to thank you for selling me
one fine dog. He also works part time for a local Hunt club
and really enjoys hunting. WOW what a dog.

Moose MH

Pedigree
What can I say about Moose, he's Moose! They say dogs take
on the personalities of their owners, well he has a sense
of humor and is just down right awnry like Randy. He plays
hard, but when it comes to hunting he is all business and
doesn't come in until you call him.
He's a great family companion and hunter. We feel very
fortunate to share our lives with him.
Thanks for everything,
Linda and Randy

Top Gun Sky

Pedigree
Sky is an amazing dog with lots of style and drive.
She is extremely flashy as well. Sky received her
MH this past fall at 2 1⁄2 years old (5 out
of 6 attempts) and turned many heads while doing so.
We are now working towards her FC as we had the chance
to enter in one stake this fall where, out of 18 dogs,
she received 1st place. She is without a doubt a phenomenal
GSP and this is due to the breeding program at Top
Gun Kennels. I cannot say enough about her natural
ability whether it’s honoring, retrieving or
bird finding…as I am just the lucky guy that
gets to follow her around, watching was she does best
whether it’s hunting or field trailing.
Chris Young, OH
Top Gun Trammell St.
Pierre

Pedigree
As a spokesperson for Pheasants Forever & Quail
Forever as well as the co-host of KFAN's Saturday
morning FAN Outdoors radio show, I have the great
pleasure of hunting with a variety of people.
From volunteers to media representatives and elected
government officials to corporate partners, my companions
cover the scope of experience and expectations.
The hunting terrain, style, and species change with
each trip, but it's always expected that I represent
ethical, safe, and successful hunting.
Similar expectations are true of "the PF guy's
dog." Thankfully, Steve & Jodi's superior
breeding standards, personal approach, and expert
training have not only created a new loved family
member, but also a fantastic hunting partner. In 2008,
the 1 1/2 year old Trammell has already successfully
helped me bag ruffed grouse, timberdoodle, sharptails,
Huns, pheasants, ducks, and geese in Minnesota, Michigan,
Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. And, before
the year is over, we'll have bobwhite quail in Georgia
under our belt and maybe an Iowa rooster too.
Meredith & Bob St.Pierre
Top Gun Wrigley

Pedigree
We tried to keep Wrigley busy this fall as he is
a hunting machine. Besides the afternoon hunts when
ever I could work them in with my two grandsons’
we were in Estherville for the Iowa opener. Saturday
was great but hunted mostly on public land and was
very crowded. Sunday was high winds and difficult
to get any scent and when the birds did get up they
were gone in the wind. The third week in November
we went to Aberdeen SD and met friends for a hunt
on private land. Wrigley was in his glory and did
a great job of staying close, finding birds, and an
excellent retriever. He found all the birds that were
wounded and one we didn’t even shoot. He obeys
very well and still likes lots of attention that my
grandsons are more than willing to provide. We are
trying different grass blends to enhance our habitat
and CRP acres at the farms in MN to increase our pheasant
population. I have included pictures of Cody and Jacob
on their first pheasant hunt with the Cresco Pheasant
Forever youth hunt and one of Wrigley doing what he
does on cold winter days in my outer office.
