Jake is from an outstanding
litter of "bird dogs" which raised the bar of what our
expectation on how German Shorthair should perform like. Jake's
desire to find birds, natural abilities and style continued to
magnify as we lined him up in our breeding program, making believers
out of those who witness them perform. Jake himself has proven
to achieve at the highest level in the many games we play in AKC,
NSTRA & NAVHDA, but most important to us is in the wild bird
field in both upland and waterfowl!
FC Top Gun Jake MH UT was struck
by a car August, 25 2004 during a morning training session. After
three surgeries, plenty of rest and therapy, Jake is recovering
comfortably on the couch where he has earned his spot. Jake's
trial, testing and hunting days are over with many memories and
rewarding days in both the field and duck blinds.
Jake's career was ended 2 points
short of his AKC Amateur Field Championship (AFC) title, and only
1 point needed for his National Shoot-to-Retrieve Championship.
Jake was a large part of the success and notoriety of our kennel.
His litter was the foundation on which we have built our line
due to the many positive traits they have produced into their
offspring.
We may never own another Jake
in our life time, but we will follow the offspring he has generated
with the confidence Jake has provided us the past 6 years! Jake's
ability to learn, differentiate and compete in the many different
games we have played in and yet be one of the greatest hunting
dog we have ever walked behind wild bird hunting in all parts
of this country will truly be missed. Jake's offspring have raised
the bar in this breed for trainability, natural hunting instincts,
intense style, and desire to find game with excellent "bird
sense"!
Jake has provided us with the
tools we need to improve this breed in many generations to come!
