Automobile We feel the earlier
you expose your puppy to transportation in a
crate, the easier they will become comfortable and enjoy. A
couple of things
to remember when you start a puppy is to start off with short
rides, and pull
dog food and water several hours before to prevent them from
sickness.
Exposure to crates prior to this event will help them relax.
Porta
Kennel / Crate (7-8 wks age) Safe and proper
size! Many reason, to
use.
Check cords and Leads (10-12 weeks age) The most underused
and lowest
cost piece of equipment we have available to us. We start at
8 weeks of age
and continue until they are e-collar conditioned.
Stake Outs
and Chain Gangs (10-12 weeks age) Start in
a safe, shaded area
at a young age. A durable collar with proper adjustment will
teach them to
submit for future check cord and training needs.
Birds (10-12
weeks age) Wing, Pigeons (homers/kills), liberated quail,
pheasant and ducks. If you’re going to have a “Bird
Dog” you must have
birds! Proper exposure, turn on both the nose and the light!
Gun – (4-6
months age) Dogs are not born gun shy or gun sensitive! It
is
usually improper exposure that creates issues that take longer
to fix than when done properly the first time! Gun noise should
indicate a falling bird from the sky.
Water (12-16 weeks age) You can lead a dog
to water but you cannot make
him swim! Start with shallow, warm water and a reason to enjoy!
E-Collar
as a training tool (6-8 months age)
