Immunization Program

Top Gun Kennel Vaccination Program

We do not dictate or recommend vaccination programs to our clients. We would strongly encourage that you establish a Vet-Client relationship with a local Vet practice in your area (within 48 hours of receiving puppy), who can tailor your program to what is best in your geographical area. We have put our current immunization program in writing to help our customers and their veterinarians understand what we have done prior to the purchase of the puppy or adult dogs. This program has been used on our adult dogs, and is required with a signed health certificate stating the immunization status of the dogs that we train here. Accurate immunization records must be filed on each animal for verification use. Most states are now requiring this for interstate travel.

Week 6: Immunize Canine with Da2PP+CVK (Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Coronavirus, Parinfluenza, and Parvovirus). Modified live and killed virus, subcutaneous. Deworm with Fenbendazole dewormer.

Weeks 9 & 12: Immunize Canine with Da2LPP +CVK (Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Coronavirus, Parinfluenza, Parvovirus, Leptospira Bacterin). Immunize Canine Bordetella Bronchiseptica intranasal. Deworm with Fenbendazole dewormer.

Week 16: Immunize Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Coronavirus, Parinfluenza, and Parvovirus, and Leptospira Bacterin Modified Live Virus subcutaneous and Immunize Canine Bordetella Bronchiseptica subcutaneous. Deworm with Fenbendazole dewormer. Immunize 1-year Rabies vaccination.

Adult Dogs: Annual Da2LPP+CVK and rotate intranasal and subcutaneous Canine Bordetella Bronchiseptica. Monthly prevention of Heartworm and external parasites, monitor sample stools quarterly for internal parasites and treat accordingly.

Vaccination for Borrelia Burgdorferi is recommended in areas of high tick infestation. Consult your veterinarian regarding this particular vaccination program!

Heartworm preventative should be administered by April 1 of each year through November, or after the first killing frost occurs.

"The main reason to immunize your dog properly is because others don’t.”

Immunization

The main reason to immunize your dog properly is because others may not. At some point in your dog’s life it may be exposed to a serious or even fatal infectious disease. Without the proper vaccinations, your dog could be unprotected!

  1. Ask the breeder for their current vaccination program recommendations, and make sure you receive inter/intrastate health papers when shipping a puppy.
  2. Developing a trusting relationship with your veterinarian is the key to long term health. We feel it is important to have an experienced small animal Vet with your pet’s best interest.
  3. Record all vaccinations given for future needs. This is becoming very important! Vaccination verification records are becoming important for traveling to other states for hunting.
  4. Do not risk exposure to other adult dogs of unknown health status before your immunization system is developed. We cannot emphasize this enough!
  5. Different geographic areas may require specific immunizations. Previous health issues should be discussed with your breeder or veterinarian prior to bringing a new puppy home.
  6. An “internal” and “external” parasite program is very important to the immune system, long term health and performance of your dogs. (Heartworms, Giardia, Hookworms, Large Round worms, Fleas and Ticks).
