Guidelines for Successful Results in Less Time
- Set a teaching and training plan to meet goals. Stick with it!
- Develop simple and single syllable commands (dogs don't speak English).
- Work on one command at a time, and finish it before you move on.
- Monitor progress weekly or monthly (ask for second opinion or even help).
- Dogs learn by teaching first then repetition, repetition, repetition, and repetition.
- Be consistent and fair every time out to avoid confusion and build on trust.
- Don't expect more than your dog is able to do for his/her age.
- Short positive sessions done frequently are more retentive.
- Know when to quit before it's too late.
- Always end each training session on a positive note!
