Prikosovich
JMy name is John Prikosovich and I reside
in South Bend, Indiana. In late 2004 I began searching for a
German Shorthaired Pointer for a hunting companion. After many
days, weeks and months my searches lead me to Top Gun Kennels
and Steve, Jodie and Rachel Ries.
In early 2005 a phone call
was made to the Ries family to purchase a German Shorthaired
Pointer. With that call Top Gun JP’s
Maverick was brought home. With a few trips to the Ries home
watching and studying his dogs as well as other dogs he and his
team had trained, I was on my way to training my own Shorthair
to perform to his fullest potential, a Master Hunter. After that
I was hooked on pointing dog training.
It is now 2009, I have
three German Shorthaired Pointers all Master Titled before two
years of age along with a NAVHDA Prize
1 title. I have also trained numerous other dogs to become great
family companions and quality hunting dogs.
Along with participating
in AKC Hunt Tests and NAVHDA Tests I am an AKC Judge for Hunt
Tests and Field Trials. I also work
with various organizations such as Pheasants Forever Local Chapters
and the Indiana and Illinois German Shorthaired Pointer Clubs
at their training sessions and youth events with guiding and
assisting members with the training of their dogs.
A heated 40’ x
32’ kennel consisting of six indoor/outdoor
runs was constructed in 2007 with help from family and friends.
A large attached fenced area is available for training and exercising
the dogs. I have several pieces of private property available
for training, including ponds for swimming along with state grounds
as well.
Dogs coming into the kennel can be trained
for obedience including here, whoa, heel, kennel and sit all
the way through
to finishing
your dog to the Master Hunter Level of steady to wing, shot,
fall, honoring and trained retrieve or somewhere in between
to give you the dog you desire. Your dog will be exposed to birds,
guns, water (weather permitting) and collar conditioning along
with being socialized with other dogs and children. Leaving
you
with a dog you will be proud to take into the field with your
friends year after year.
